Historical Trivia as Blog Content

I imagine that one model for a perfect historical novel would treat history like A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen treated literature: every word and bit of scenery hinting at some forgotten episode. I research not only to craft a historically accurate story but to proactively fill the story with many interesting details of history.

In this research process, many details will end up on the cutting room floor, but I don’t think that should prevent you readers from enjoying them. I’ve decided to use this blog to include history fun facts that I probably won’t share otherwise.

The history that makes it to the novel will be well-researched. I’m planning to include annotations and sources, and I may hire a historian to proofread (details in a future post). However, the history that makes it into these trivia posts may not be as well-researched. Let the reader beware.
